In the book of Mark, it is recorded that when Jesus reached the bedside of Jairus’ daughter, she was already dead. Those in the house summoned him away, saying it was too late. Even so, he called out to her in Aramaic, “Talitha koum” ~ “My child, rise up!” And she did. This rising to life – it is that hope we offer to families in a pocket of deep poverty in Waco.

Talitha Koum Institute (TKI) is a faith-based, charitable organization providing a mental health therapeutic Nurture Center that offers brain development and all-day loving care to at-risk children from eight weeks old to Kindergarten. Our goal is to equip children with strong neural pathways enabling readiness to learn and the ability to self-regulate ~ key qualities of later success in school, work, and family life.
