EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY SPIRITUALITY
Using Peter Scazzero's book by the same name, we’ll directly address the reality that emotional maturity and spiritual maturity are inseparable. Together we'll explore how to become equipped for discipleship by incorporating stillness, silence, and Scripture as a daily life rhythm.

TRANSFORMED FOR JOY
We are chosen as the beloved children of God and called to take on the nature and heart of Christ in all our endeavors and relationships. This core class is foundational to the Servant Leadership School, as its message is foundational to living the Christian life both in service and in joy. This journey towards accepting our chosen-ness requires our continued growth and transformation. In this class, we will work with Henri Nouwen’s books Life of the Beloved and In the Name of Jesus.
Teacher: Marsha Martie is the pastor and a founding member of CrossTies, an Ecumenical Faith Community as well as its ministries—Servant Leadership School, Gospel Cafe, and Talitha Koum Institute. She has been a spiritual director in the community for 32 years and is a graduate of the Spiritual Direction Institute, Diocese of Austin.
REVELATION: AN OPEN LETTER TO STRUGGLING CHRISTIANS
Too often the book of Revelation is either over-emphasized and becomes the center of one’s faith or it is under-appreciated and virtually ignored. In this class, we’ll explore both the message of warning and the message of encouragement that this often misunderstood book has for today’s Christian. Hope amidst tribulation is timely indeed.
Teacher ~ Dr. Jim Kennedy is associate professor emeritus of religion at Baylor University where he taught courses on the Bible. He earned a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies with an emphasis in Hebrew Bible from Drew University. For Servant Leadership School, Jim has taught courses on the Gospel of Mark, the "power and proclamation" of Isaiah, and the Psalms. Jim is a longtime member of Seventh & James Baptist Church. He enjoys painting, reading, writing an occasional poem, and back-packing.
What is Servant Leadership School?
It is our vision and mission to help prepare God’s people to be leaders molded in the image of Christ and engaged in God’s intention for a transformed world. We recognize – and you know – that growing as a servant leader is a life-long process. It is our desire to provide a structure for your continuous growth by providing a safe, nurturing environment for you to explore both an inner spiritual journey and an outward expression in service to the world.
